Rollup
A rollup executes transactions outside a base chain and posts the transaction data or state differences back to it, so anyone can reconstruct state and exit to the base chain. Optimistic rollups assume batches are valid unless challenged with a fraud proof during a dispute window; ZK rollups attach a validity proof to every batch.
