Stablecoin
A stablecoin is a token designed to hold a steady value against a reference asset, almost always the US dollar. Designs differ by what backs the peg: fiat reserves held by an issuer, overcollateralized crypto, delta-neutral derivatives positions, or algorithmic supply rules. In every case the peg ultimately holds only as well as redemption and arbitrage work under stress.
