Auto-deleveraging (ADL)
Auto-deleveraging is a last-resort mechanism on derivatives venues: when a bankrupt position cannot be closed in the market and the insurance fund cannot absorb the deficit, the venue forcibly reduces profitable positions on the opposite side. It caps the venue's bad debt by transferring losses to traders who were winning.
